Joey Yuen was called to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and to the Hong Kong Bar in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Her main areas of practice are contract law, company law, company winding-up proceedings and conflict of laws. Shortly after she commenced her limited practice she started involving in cases wherein jurisdiction was in dispute, including MSM Contracting Corporation v Leighton Contractors (Philippines) Inc., HCA No 2283 of 2006 and Noble Power Investments Ltd and another v Nissei Stomach Tokyo Co Ltd. [2008] 1 HKLRD 134. She was the second junior led by Mr. Robert Whitehead SC and Mr. Steven Kwan in both the first instance and appeals of The Bank of East Asia Ltd v Labour Buildings Ltd and the others, unreported, HCMP 769 of 2002, CACV 33 of 2008 and FAMV 14 of 2009. Ms. Yuen was also involved in a related defamation action commenced by The Bank of East Asia Ltd.
